Introducing Let Go: decluttering coaching for when the stuff isn't really the problem

Moving, renovating, downsizing or helping your parents clear their home? My new Let Go coaching helps with the part tidying tips don't touch, the feelings that make letting go so hard.

I’m decluttering my own home at the moment, one drawer at a time.

It’s been more revealing than I expected. Lifting a box is easy. What stops me is the moment I pick something up and a feeling arrives first. Someone gave me this. I might need it one day. This belonged to someone I loved. I put it back and walk away.

Talking with friends and clients, I’ve found I’m far from alone. So I’ve created a new way of working together, built around exactly that moment.

It’s called Let Go.

What is Let Go?

Let Go is decluttering coaching, with hypnotherapy, for people who feel stuck at home and in their head.

It isn’t a tidying system, and I won’t come round and sort your cupboards. Sessions are online, and you do the clearing. I help with the part that makes it hard: the deciding, and the feelings behind it.

Who it’s for

Clutter tends to pile up when life changes. Let Go is for you if:

  • You’re buying, moving or renovating, and you can’t face sorting through years of stuff first.
  • You have a busy young family, and the house feels like it runs you, not the other way round.
  • The kids have moved out, and you want a smaller, lighter life, but every room holds a memory.
  • You’re helping your parents downsize or move into care, and you don’t know where to start without upsetting them.
  • You’re ready for a fresh start after a new job, a move or the end of a relationship, but the past is still in every cupboard.

Or nothing big has happened. You just know the stuff, and the way you feel at home, is holding you back.

Why it’s not really about the stuff

Most clutter is held in place by one of three feelings:

  • Guilt. “Someone gave me this.” “I spent good money on it.”
  • Fear. “I might need it someday.”
  • Grief. “It belonged to someone I loved.”

Tidying tips don’t touch these. That’s why so many of us start with good intentions and stall after the first bag. We don’t really hold on to things. We hold on to what they mean.

How it works

  1. A free Let Go call. On Zoom, you tell me where you feel stuck. We find what’s keeping you holding on, and you leave with one next step for the next 24 hours.
  2. Coaching and hypnotherapy. If we decide to work together, we go to the root: the guilt, fear or grief, and the old identity that keeps the clutter in place. Hypnotherapy helps calm the emotional pull, so decisions feel lighter.
  3. Clear in small steps. Between sessions you clear at your own pace, ten minutes at a time, with simple decision rules. No marathon weekends.
  4. Live in the space. You design the home, and the life, that the person you’re becoming actually wants.

What changes

People expect a tidier house. What they usually get is bigger than that: more energy, because there’s less to decide and look after. Calmer evenings at home. Fewer arguments about mess, and more room for each other. And a clearer sense of who they are now, and what they want next.

Start with one small step

If any of this sounds familiar, book a free Let Go call. It’s a relaxed chat on Zoom, with no pressure and no sales script. You’ll leave with one clear next step, whether or not we work together.

And if you know someone who’s moving, downsizing or quietly drowning in stuff, I’d be grateful if you shared this with them.

If your home has become unsafe, or clutter is causing you severe distress, please talk to your GP first. Hoarding disorder is a recognised condition, and it deserves proper care.
