Decluttering coaching

Let go of the stuff, and what’s holding you back

Moving, renovating, downsizing, or helping your parents clear their home? I help you work through the feelings that make letting go so hard, so you can enjoy a lighter home, more energy and better relationships.

Sound familiar?

Clutter piles up when life changes

Buying, moving or renovating

You’re about to pack up or knock down walls, and you can’t face sorting through years of stuff first.

A busy young family

Toys, school paperwork and no spare weekend. The house feels like it runs you, not the other way round.

Empty nest or downsizing

The kids have moved out and you want a smaller, lighter life. But every room holds a memory.

Helping your parents

Mum or Dad needs to downsize or move into care, and you don’t know where to start without upsetting them.

Ready for a fresh start

A new job, a new city or the end of a relationship. You’re ready to move on, but the past is still in every cupboard.

Or you just feel stuck

Nothing big has happened. You just know the stuff, and the way you feel at home, is holding you back.

Let’s talk

Why it’s hard

It’s not really about the stuff

Lifting a box is easy. Deciding about it is what wears you out. Most clutter is held in place by one of three feelings, and tidying tips don’t touch them.

Guilt

“Someone gave me this.” “I spent good money on it.”

The gift was the moment someone thought of you. That already happened. Keeping the object doesn’t make it more real.

Fear

“I might need it someday.”

Most “someday” things could be replaced for a few dollars. Meanwhile you pay for them every day in space and mental noise.

Grief

“It belonged to someone I loved.”

Keep what brings you comfort when you hold it. You can let go of what only brings the ache, at your own pace.

How it works

From stuck to clarity, one small step at a time

  1. 1

    A free Let Go call

On Zoom. You tell me where you feel stuck. We find what’s keeping you holding on, and you leave with one next step for the next 24 hours.

  2. 2

    Coaching and hypnotherapy

If we decide to work together, we go to the root: the guilt, fear or grief, and the old identity that keeps the clutter in place. Hypnotherapy helps calm the emotional pull, so decisions feel lighter.

  3. 3

    Clear in small steps

Between sessions you clear at your own pace, ten minutes at a time, with simple decision rules. No marathon weekends.

  4. 4

    Live in the space

You design the home, and the life, the person you’re becoming actually wants. More room, more energy, and more ease with the people you share it with.

What changes

More room, in your home and in your life

A home that feels good

Rooms you can walk through, and a home you’re happy to invite people into.

More energy

Less to decide, less to look after, and less noise in your head.

Better relationships

Fewer arguments about mess, and more room for each other.

Freedom to move on

A clearer sense of who you are now, and what you want next.

Why me

I’m doing this in my own home, too

I’m decluttering my own house, one drawer at a time, and sharing what comes up along the way. I know how it feels to pick something up, put it back, and walk away.

As a certified hypnotherapist and coach, I work with the part of the mind that runs on habit and feeling. That’s usually where letting go gets stuck.

More about me

“We don’t really hold on to things. We hold on to what they mean.”

Questions

Before you book

Will you come to my house and declutter for me?

No. I’m a coach and hypnotherapist, not a professional organiser. Sessions are online, and you do the clearing. I help with the part that makes it hard: the deciding, and the feelings behind it.

What is hypnotherapy like?

It feels like deep relaxation with focused attention. You’re awake, aware and in control the whole time, and you can’t be made to do anything you don’t want to. Many people simply find it very calming.

Can you help me with my parents’ or partner’s things?

I can help you approach it with less conflict and more care. Nobody can decide for someone else, so we focus on what’s yours to change. With their consent, a parent or partner is welcome to join a session.

What if my clutter is extreme?

Hoarding disorder is a recognised mental health condition. If your home has become unsafe, or the clutter causes you severe distress, please talk to your GP first. Coaching isn’t a substitute for medical or psychological treatment. If you need support right now, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

Do sessions happen online?

Yes, via Zoom. I’m in Canberra and work with people across Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the USA.

How much does it cost?

The Let Go call is free. If we decide to work together, I’ll recommend a plan that suits you, from a single session to ongoing coaching, and we’ll talk through the fees on the call. No pressure, ever.
